Tank Soaking Systems

Enviro Jet's specially designed soaking tanks are ideal for cleaning pipe that has been removed from the ground and cut into small sections of less than twenty feet. This method is also effective on decontaminating valves, offsets and a variety of odd sized fittings, including pipe of less than 2" in diameter. Enviro Jet offers two standard sizes of soaking tanks and a variety of different options to meet your needs.

In conjunction with Keyspan Energy, Enviro Jet completed an extensive validation study under 40 CFR Part 761 Subpart “T”–Comparison Study for Validating a New Performance-Based Decontamination Solvent Under §761.79 (d)(4). The study and submittal to the US EPA established that Enviro Clean solution effectively decontaminates PCBs from non-porous surfaces to levels below 10ug/100cm2 or 50ppm. Subsequently, this study also provides the performance-based procedures for our soaking method.

Our Subpart "T" submittal and US EPA approval (via regulatory language) allows us to treat non-porous materials in a bath of Enviro Clean PODF for 4 hours. In addition to the improvements on the soaking time, the submittal also allows us to soak contaminated material at a temperature range of 390 F to 990 F. We can treat two times the amount of pipe in one day with more flexibility regarding temperature restraints. Again, we are focusing on providing a realistic decontamination process that eliminates long term liability and remains cost effective.

As with the spray cleaning technology, contaminated material treated by our soaking process when following the guidelines of the submittal, can be considered “non-PCB”and are not regulated for disposal. We have cleaned over 50,000 feet of gas transmission pipe and equipment ranging from 2" to 36" using our soaking method. Another advantage when using our system is that confirmatory wipe testing of the pipe is not required. After the treatment process is complete, the pipe can be disposed of as scrap metal. We normally unload the pipe from the soaking tank directly into a scrap metal roll-off box.

We offers soaking tanks in a variety of sizes to fit any job, large or small. Although our small units can handle up to eight inch pipe, we have found through our project experience that there was a need to soak larger diameter pipe as well as fittings including headers, drip pots and valves. Accordingly, we designed larger units that are capable of treating over 30 cubic yards per day.

Our soaking process will greatly reduce waste disposal costs as the pipe may be disposed of as non PCB scrap metal, after being treated by our system. If you are disposing of pipe as a hazardous PCB waste, please contact us as we can save you money!
