Enviro Jet, in conjunction with Keyspan Energy, has designed a very high-pressure pipeline cleaning system to remove heavy debris and tar from the internal surfaces of pipelines.
Using the latest in rotary nozzle technology, the self-contained system includes a 10,000 psi hydro-blaster with a hydraulic real containing 600’of flexible Kevlar hose. The system effectively removes, through the hydro-blasting action of our cleaning nozzles, heavy tar and debris build up from the pipe’s surface. The technology works very well on the hard creosote and sludge often found in old cast iron pipelines. In fact, we have been able to clean the pipe down to bare metal in most cases.
The process is conceptually similar to our US EPA approved PCB decontamination system including the utilization of radial vortex nozzles to jet-spray the interior surfaces of the pipe. A high-pressure vacuum truck provides continuous recovery of the water applied to the pipeline segment. A series of filtering systems allows us to recycle and re-use wash water to greatly reduce the amount of wastewater generated on-site. This is important as the costs for liquid disposal are significantly reduced.
Our high-pressure cleaning method was developed to provide an effective tool to sufficiently clean a pipeline segment in preparation for trenchless rehabilitation technologies including insertion repairing techniques such as Link Pipe and Starline. These techniques are quickly becoming an industry standard when it comes to pipeline repair and rehabilitation, especially in leaking cast iron gas mains.
If you are considering a trenchless technology for pipeline repair or rehabilitation, Enviro Jet can assist you in the decision making process from an operational, financial and environmental view point.
